In the Mean Time

"... An evil time, when relatives quarrel,
When people dress sloppily in clothes of rags, Eating bad cheap food,
When there are family feuds and civil wars..."
—Pacifying The Turmoil of the Mamos by Karma Chagme

The five elements are unraveling, and small comforts are showing themselves to be fragile and contingent. It's like a crunch time, stuck in a throat and not knowing if we'll be swallowed or coughed back up. Imagery becomes solid and unblinking. Old stubborn forms creep in, and drawing tightens. Horrors are served up like baubles. Not sure if this is still humor.
