lost scholars (selections)

This grew out of a loose string of drawings, starting with two scholars contemplating a burrito. I placed the figures in landscapes, and before long people asked "what happens?" Narrative is a rough and stubborn organizing principle. The story is the sense maker of the images, their context, their sequence. Calling it a series already provides structure, consistency. So within that, there is freedom to let images arise spontaneously. I have no record of the sequence in which I made these, and I don't know what happens.
