fable

These give shape to stray stories, stray visions, abstract tenets. Emblems, reading like lore. Like we should be careful. Some simply come from an urge to make a thing visible: Blind Willie McTell reading in the dark; a stray dog dragging a rejected dissertation; Mercury 7 at the bottom of the sea. Others just became emblematic of what they are, begun without a plan, like a sentient cloud or a mountain of gold.
